Eftichia Teperoglou è docente del Dipartimento di Scienze Politiche dell'Università Aristotele di Salonicco. Ha lavorato come ricercatrice per il Center for European Social research (MZES) in Germania e per il Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-IUL) in Portogallo. I suoi interessi di ricerca sono nell'ambito del comportamento politico ed elettorale con particolare interesse alle elezioni europee, della politica comparata e dell'opinione pubblica. È tra i fondatori dell'Hellenic National Election Study (ELNES). Ha pubblicato in riviste scientifiche internazionali ed in diversi volumi. Tra le sue pubblicazioni più recenti, la monografia " The other 'national' elections", " Analysis of the Euro elections in Greece 1981-2014" (Papazisis, Athens 2016) e "The 2014 European Parliament Elections in Southern Europe: still Second-Order or Critical Contests?", che sta curando con Hermann Schmitt per South European Society and Politics series, Routledge.

The European Parliament elections of 2019 in Greece took place on 26 May together with municipal and regional elections. The governmental party of the radical left SYRIZA suffered severe losses and the centre-right party of New Democracy (ND) increased its electoral strength and dominates again in the Greek party system after the period 2012-2015.
